Press for Change and the TransEquality project advise and help organisations, public authorities and businesses ensure that they are fulfilling their legal duties for current and future trans employees and service users.
We can also advise how to lead in excellence for trans equality – for example those seeking to achieve a higher level in the Equality Standard for Local Government or Investors in Diversity.
Reviewing of policies and documents:
Review and amend your documentation to ensure your policies do not only comply but also lead in best practice.
Review and amend guidance and publicity materials to ensure that your trans employees, students, clients and customers are given the respect and services they are legally entitled to.
Impact assessment and equality auditing to assist your organisation to take all necessary action to change policies and create a non-discriminatory culture.
Training
- Conduct training for a variety of sectors: health services; local authorities; education; criminal justice and the statutory and voluntary sector as well as commercial environments such as retail and finance.
- Train your staff so that they implement your policies with full understanding and commitment; practice exemplary procedures and ensure you avoid litigation.
Half or full day sessions can be facilitated by a professionally qualified, highly experienced trainer who is themselves a trans person.
Organisations who have recently benefited from PFC training: Equality and Human Rights Commission; Lancashire County Council; Lancashire Police; Greater Manchester Police; Northampton College; the Crown Prosecution Service; Victim Support; Manchester Metropolitan University
Legal advice
- We can also offer legal advice on employment issues – for example how to manage a member of staff undergoing gender reassignment, or any queries about the legal duties involving goods services and facilities
